New to the Metroline roster, Max J kicks things off for us in very fine style. Don't U Know is a lush and complex burner. The basal kicks, loose-limbed percussion work and strong pads give the track a nostalgic, almost-garage vibe, but the ambient elements add a beautiful fuzz and crackle. On the remix tip, we welcome back Metroline regular Clio, who gives the track a slightly harder electro tip - sharpening up the edges, tightening the percussion to maximum torque, and putting the vocal front and centre. Essentially, he’s turned the track upside down and inside out – as all good remixes should. Third track Lou is a breathy slice of paranoia, with overdriven claps and snares that trip over themselves to stay in time. The pads are cold, austere and reverb soaked
The EP ends with the bass-heavy Trust Nobody, a collab with fellow Belgian talent Coockies. It’s a heavy-breathing, shuffling monster of a tune. On a gangster tip.
