All held together with classic percussion work and stylish vocal cuts Some Basic Skills deploys some more overtly old school weaponry.
Synth stabs and natural percussion provide the energy while the funk comes from an overdriven bass groove and more of those sweet vocal element.
Mr. Statik's bassic dub of Some Basic Skills does just what it promises. Stripped back and focused, the track gets its nervous energy from shuffling percussion and menacing pads.
And by the time those long buzzing bass notes start to roll and the hats kick things up a gear, you'll be locked on. Tight.
The Bold Talk (feat. The Mob Synth) is a straight up piece of power funk. Punchy beats and no-nonsense percs lay the ground for the synths to play on. Its pimping keys and bubbling bass notes all the way with this baby.
