Ikuto is a mysterious young producer based in the UK. Even us at Metroline don't know much about him other than the fact that he is very talented in laying down some deep and groovy techno music.
Fresh from having released on influentiual labels such as Body Parts and Neo Concepto, both in partenrship with another recent Metroline discovery, Nami, Ikuto makes his full length debut on Metroline with a the three tracker Random Particles.
The title track is first up of the ep and it's a great example of that deep minimalism that is maybe a bit lost in modern productions where producers tend to over layer percussive bits loosing that important bit of 'in-between space' in their tracks.
How do they say...less is more? I think we heard that a few times.
Without wanting to repeat ourselves, but we will, Random Particles is deep techno as it should be and it's also a hell of a lot belter on the dancefloor. Surging pads wash over the kind of heavy beats that make grown men cry. The percussion is sparse and focused, uncluttered Zen techno for the connoisseur.
Kleeia is centered around some crisp percussive work and a huge bassline. The mood is kept well deep still by lush pads and one off synth submarine synth stabs.
The closing track Orb still has in display Ikuto's ability to craft some intricate percussive work over a broken beat and some more cerebral pad and synth strucures. Definitely one for when the sun comes up after a night grooving on a dark dancefloor!
