What are polar mutations?
You may think they are mutations happening in the arctic where men are somehow contributing to the destruction of a vital part of our planet.
In this particular instance they are the mutations and variations of a track named after a Polar Bear, a track that will be featured on Phiorio’s forthcoming 12”Ep that will be released also on Metroline Limited.
During the recording process, a few sessions were necessary to get the final mix and a few different versions of the track came out as a result leaving the producer with several banks of sounds.
Those sounds got saved and left on a side after the track got completed but when Phiorio went back to listen to those elements, he thought that there was enough material that could be used for a brand new release.
The most fascinating thing was how diverse some of the sounds had become although having been generated from the same project.
The resulting package is an EP with 5 tracks, some sort of musical tools, each one with the same basic rhythmic grooves but each one with its own identity, all tracks revolving around the concept of how much an original idea can mutate into infinite different things.
The Green Mix and the No Shell Mix are both dancefloor-orientated tracks although retaining some sort of experimental vibe, the Trip mix is a dark rolling deep house number while the Dub mix pretty much does what it says on the tin, it’s dub techno with plenty of atmospherics.
Last but not least if the Bass Mix that completes this tasty package with its super funky bassline.
